Susan McGalla

Research shows that businesses that have embraced gender-diversity in place of work are 15 percent ahead of companies that haven’t. This is attributed to the fact that employees are from diverse backgrounds and gender, there will always be alternatives to a specific decision or way of doing things.

However, even with such open knowledge, we expect S&P 500 corporations to at least consider women in top leadership positions. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.

For this reason, some women have proved themselves capable of such positions in corporations. Susan McGalla is the perfect example. Her success is attributed to her upbringing background, where he learned how to work both with women and men.

She was born in a family of two boys, and she was the only girl. Her dad made her work hard for whatever she wanted. Perhaps you know how hard to be the only girl in a middle of two boys.

Susan later at American Eagle Outfitters remembered the lessons her father taught her. At the time, the company has only men in executive positions. But by the time she was leaving the company, Susan was the president. And after that launched her own companies including P3 Executive Consulting.

On the other hand, Susan helped Pittsburg Steelers sell more of their outfits through a campaign duped ‘wear what we wear’ which was a huge success.

Susan is a perfect epitome of the power of women in leadership positions. But the problem comes when these opportunities are hard to find because of an artificial glass ceiling. Women have started networks and programs to help them handle this challenge.

They are allowed to share ideas freely that will help expand their horizon and possibly land in new opportunities. Such women programs have proved beyond doubts that women too can do well in the so-called men territories.

And there is an idea of using executive sponsorship to eliminate gender discrimination in corporations. It has been proved to be working and could be the only shot towards ending this problem.
